My Cat and God

Our cat thinks I am a God. She petitions me untiringly. She depends on me for food, shelter, and safety. She watches me do things, which must seem miraculous. In many ways I must seem a God to her. I even have authority over life and death.  Even though I fall far short of the compliment, to my pet I am god like.

How does she worship? When I walk into the house she immediately begins to whine at me wanting her food and water dish checked. She wants me to stand and watch her eat. She wants to be let out, then she wants let back in. She positions herself in the middle of the doorway so that I have to step over her. She claws at the drapes and the chairs. In a word, she is a nuisance.

Am I a nuisance? Do I petition my father-in-heaven tirelessly over things that he knows are not in my best interest? Do I whine when the answer I want doesn’t come quickly my way? Am I a devoted disciple or an attention seeking doorway blocker? Do I help the work or shred the drapes? Am I any better than my cat?

Perhaps we need to take time to evaluate the way that we worship. Maybe we need to be more concerned with his work and less with our food dish. “Just sayin.”

And after this post My Cat and God | The Moral Middle.
I was actually excited enough to drop a leave a responsea
response 🙂 I actually do have some questions for you
if it’s okay. Is it simply me or do a few of these responses look like they are coming from
brain dead folks? 😛 And, if you are posting at additional online sites, I’d like to keep up with anything new you have to post.
Could you make a list all of your communal sites like your Facebook page, twitter feed, or linkedin profile?
